Christmas Bazaar, Yard Sale, and Auction

I hope you all survived all the activities last weekend. Did you get to the Christmas parade? I hope so. Now it’s time to slow down a bit until after Christmas but we still have some activities this weekend. Today and tomorrow we have the Christmas Bazaar and yard sale at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. There’s nothing like a good church sale to find a good deal on some must-have treasure, You never know what you will find at one of these and the walk will do you good.

Tomorrow is the Operation Hero Silent Auction at the New Community Center. It supports a good cause and might also deliver up some great deal.

Maybe this is a good time to also hit up Sweet Darlene’s for dinner or lunch and one of those awesome pies they make and sell. Come on! You know you want one. Don’t feel guilty. How about a nice hot cinnamon roll? Mmmm mmmm. Feel free to rate and leave a review of your experience at Sweet Darlene’s in our business directory.

Let The Season Begin!

RC Model Plane

Hi all!

Well, the party has started in Quartzsite this year. Snowbirds are flocking in from all over the country once again to Quartzsite and surrounding areas. Old friends are catching up on their summer travel stories, new friendships are being made, and some new RVers are making the journey to the RVers’ mecca to discover the fun and wonder that is Quartzsite.

Did you catch Santa’s Workshop Arts & Crafts Festival at Tyson Wells this weekend Saturday-Sunday? I love those myself for browsing and getting some winter exercise. I usually stumble across some very cute item I just have to send to family or friends. It’s a good time to enjoy some pie or cake too.

Tomorrow starts the remote control flyers season over at Town Park. The Flyers RC Fly-In lasts from December – March. It’s a lot of fun to watch how well they manage to fly them and what goes into maintaining the planes. I like that they actually have a field of their own with a landing strip. Of course, it is also in Town Park which is just awesome in itself. If you have had too much of that pie and cake I mentioned, you can work it off at the park on their excellent fitness trail. For you geocachers, there are also a lot of geocaches in and around the park.

Upgrade to Consider in Quartzsite

Here’s a great video on how easy it is to change over from fluorescent lights to LED. With boondocking and solar system installs so popular in Quartzsite, this is another upgrade you should consider and can find the parts for in Quartzsite or have them delivered there while snowbirding.

Lots of Site Updates

As you may have noticed, the old business directory has been replaced by a more interactive one with maps and reviews. The categories are also now available in the right sidebar at all times to make navigation easier. I have just updated the Events page with the 2014-2015 schedule and the Local Attractions page has a few more additions. A new page has been added for info on activities available at the QIA and Senior Center that you might enjoy. Quartzsite is one hopping town in the winter months!

Quartzsite Directory Now Open!

Looking for RV parks in the Quartzsite area or BLM areas to camp? Want to know where to get water or who to call to get your tanks pumped out while boondocking the desert this season? How can you get your mail? Are there RV parts nearby if something breaks? What about groceries? All these can be found in the new and improved directory which is now open to all on our site. The new directory includes maps to help you get where you need to go and also now allows posting of reviews for registered users (registration is free). So, if you have some experience with a listing, please take the time to review them to help others. When looking at maps, click on the pins or groups then click on the names to get any additional information provided.

While I am in the process of improving and verifying the listings, if you find any misinformation or would like your business added, please contact me at katrina at this domain. I tried to include those businesses and BLM campsites RVers would like to know about when staying in the area.

Other cities are included due to their proximity to Quartzsite or services offered and some RVers prefer to camp outside Quartzsite.

Come check it out and don’t forget to bookmark it! —> Quartzsite Directory

Events Schedule Updated

Blythe Bluegrass FestivalQuartzsite is certainly a “happening place” right now with so much going on there but the fun is not only in Quartzsite. Lake Havasu City to the north, Blythe to the west, and Yuma to the south also have plenty of events going on that you may want to get in on while you are in the area. To help you plan your schedule, the events page has been updated with more local events to tickle your fancy. One event you definitely want to consider going to is the Annual Western Winter Blast Pyrotechnic Show if you will be around in February. Many snowbirds pull up stakes for the week to camp near the show and catch the nightly fireworks. Check their website for camping info.

Lock It Up!

Reports coming in say that thieves are operating heavily in the area to steal portable generators. Many generators have disappeared from boondocking sites in recent weeks so make sure you chain and lock them down along with anything else a thief might want to grab quick. Be sure to lock your doors at night too and don’t leave valuables next to the door. I know Quartzsite is a fun and friendly community but there are always opportunists around so be careful.

Hi Jolly Daze Parade

The annual Hi Jolly Daze Parade is coming up next week on Jan 7th, 2014 starting at town park. For anyone new to Quartzsite, the parade celebrates the U.S. Camel Corps experiment which took place in the Quartzsite area long ago when the U.S. Cavalry tested the use of camels for desert mounts/pack mules and one camel driver named Hi Jolly liked the area so much that he stayed behind to live the rest of his life in Quartzsite. He is buried in the Hi Jolly cemetery in town. Now you know why this blog has a camel!
