Since 1968, the Quartzsite Roadrunners Gem and Mineral Club has been meeting and teaching classes behind La Mesa RV at 65 Ironwood. The cost to join is $15.00 for the season from November to April 1. Along with social functions, you can take inexpensive classes to learn lapidary, opal cutting, basket making, knapping, wire wrapping, casting, beading and much more.
From their website:
“…Quartzsite Improvement Assoc headquarters in Arizona for the POWWOW Rock & Gem Show and great community events throughout the winter “season”.
We are a non profit, community based, all volunteer group of people wanting to help the Quartzsite area and all the wonderful visitors we get here every year.”
For only a $5 per season membership fee, they hold dances, bingo, dinners, educational seminars, exercise classes, shows, and much more.
Office Hours are 9am to Noon
Monday thru Friday – November to late March
The Veterans of Foreign Wars hosts public fairs, dinners, parades, etc.
Are you interested in metal detecting and sharing it with others in a fun social atmosphere? This may be the club for you! They meet at the QIA monthly and have regular outings and hunts.
Most coin hunts cost $20 each hunter or $25 if hunter is not a club member.
Membership is $20 per person.
See their website for more info on meetings, events, and how to join.
Started as a joke back in the 70s (a yacht club in the middle of a desert?), the club is a social gathering place with music, a bar&grill, and a motel.
Cost to join is $30 per person. Any visitors to the club have the option of joining, and with their membership they receive a t-shirt, a flag, signed certificates for framing, and official membership cards. There is one particular perk, though, that ends up being the best of the bunch: reciprocity, which MAY (not guaranteed) allow entry into other real yacht clubs.
