Hope you all had a great Christmas! This is going to be an exciting week in Quartzsite with more venues opening, not one but two New Year’s Eve parties to go to, the annual Q Mountain climb that happens January 1st every year, and a new show by Michael Cullipher. Rest up, clean up those dancing and hiking shoes, then get ready to boogie!

The events page is now updated with the coming attractions in Quartzsite and nearby areas. Come see what’s happening when! We’ve got New Year’s Eve dances, Rubber Tramp Rendezvous, shows, parades, and more. Don’t miss out on the fun! Merry Christmas and see you there!
The Big Tent RV Show continues this week. Moving around in the tent appears to be easier this year with fewer attendees and one way aisles. Masks are required and there are people stationed at all entrances to hand out masks as needed if you don’t bring your own.
There’s lots of great food to be had around the Big Tent and at Tyson Wells. They’ve got me drooling! Don’t forget the ice cream.
This week is the QIA Pow Wow. If you can’t find a vendor at Tyson Wells that you saw there before, check for them over at the Pow Wow as some vendors did move over there.
After a hard day of shopping, most folks are hanging out around the campfire, the best part of winter camping in the Q.
Temperatures have been higher than usual so be careful about leaving pets alone inside during the day. Outside unwatched is equally dangerous for pets now that we are in coyote mating season. Keep pets leashed at all times and watch them close so they don’t become dinner.

Yay! The show must go on and it is. This week the Big Tent RV Show and Tyson Wells Sell-A-Rama open albeit with some changes for safety. Attendance appears down for both vendors and customers but more folks will be showing up just before the show opens as usual. Enjoy the week and don’t overdo it! If you do overdo it, find a comfortable chair and go fly a kite!

Happy New Year, Quartzsite! We made it through 2020 and the vaccines are rolling out. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a much better year this year. Best wishes to you all!
The shows and parade must go on. With a bit of caution and social distancing we can make this season a good one still. Out on the BLM, it is pretty easy to distance ourselves while enjoying winter in the South. More venues have opened up and Kuehn is looking pretty good as is Main St.

A big welcome back to the snowbirds who are already in the Quartzsite area for the season! It is certainly going to be different this year but we can still have fun in our own small groups and the RV show is still on the schedule. Speaking of which, the events page has been updated so be sure to check it each week.
With all the newbies buying RVs right now for safer vacations, we’ll likely see a few here. Let’s not forget our first RV days and be sure to welcome them and help them ease into this wonderful lifestyle. I remember my first year when I failed to chalk the trailer wheels while unhitching and dropped the tongue TWICE! Oops.
Don’t forget to bring your masks and hand sanitizer. Remember regular shopping and medical facilities in the area are limited and we don’t want to over burden them or spread to the locals.

Great news per the Facebook page of the Bureau of Land Management – Arizona:
“The Bureau of Land Management in Arizona is planning to offer normal services and facilities at the Long-Term Visitor Areas (LTVA) for the upcoming winter season. The LTVA season will begin on schedule on September 15. The four La Posa LTVAs near Quartzsite (La Posa North, South, West, and Tyson Wash), and the Imperial Dam LTVA near Yuma are a popular winter tradition for the visiting public. We need everyone to do their part to ensure a successful LTVA season.
BLM staff will continue monitoring COVID-19 guidelines from state and local health officials, and we will adjust operations as needed to comply with those guidelines.
While we plan to maintain facilities and services as we do each year, LTVA visitors can be best prepared by bringing their own sanitation supplies such as toilet paper and hand sanitizer. We remind our visitors to follow the CDC’s guidance to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, including maintaining social distancing, covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze, and staying home if you feel sick.
We continue to keep most BLM public lands in Arizona accessible during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing the public to have a place to be socially distant, together. We appreciate our visitors’ cooperation in making this winter’s LTVA season a successful one.
