New Arizona Non Resident OHV Decal Program

Posted by on August 31, 2019

Passing this along from the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD):

“NEW ARIZONA NON RESIDENT DECAL PROGRAM:

Looks like we are on target for a Sept 1st roll out of the new non-res ohv decal. Here are some key points of the new program that you may want to share with your club members.

All non-residents will need an OHV decal beginning this fall. The new decal program will go live Sept 1st

The decal will be purchased thru the AZGFD website (www.azgfd.gov) by first setting up a free account (kinda like amazon, the azgfd portal will get you all things azgfd related). Residents will still purchase their decal from the MVD.

Folks can buy as many decals as they wish but only one per vehicle, the stickers are 3”x3″ and orange in color. They will be mailed to whatever address the buyer enters. The customer’s receipt or screenshot of it on a phone will be valid to operate for 30 days. So folks arriving in Qtown for example can order their decal and have it mailed there and still operate there for 30 days or until it arrives. It may take up to 14 days to receive by USPS.

Decals cost non-residents $25 plus a $5 processing fee. The monies from the decal purchase go to the state treasurer and are divided up between agencies for OHV program use/improvement. This money helps purchase signage and build trails for the OHV program, and will benefit the users.

Decals are good for 1 year from the date of purchase, so someone buying their decal in November is good until the following November.

Exemptions can be found in ARS 28-1178 and include people participating in OHV special events, operating on private land, loading or unloading from a vehicle, during a period of emergency if directed by a peace officer, or if it displays a valid dealer license plate.

Decals shall be displayed on the driver’s side of the vehicle as shown on the decal paperwork that they will receive with their decals.

Folks can use this link, http://www.azgfd.gov , to get to the AZGFD Portal account registration page.

Once the decal program goes live the Department will send out notifications to account holders and public with info on where to buy the non-resident decals.”
