Best Kept Secret in Quartzsite

Posted by on January 7, 2016

Did you know Quartzsite has a rock club where you can learn lapidary, opal cutting, basket making, knapping, wire wrapping, casting, beading and much more? Since 1968, the Quartzsite Roadrunners Gem and Mineral Club has been meeting and teaching classes behind La Mesa RV at 65 Ironwood. The cost to join is $15.00 for the season from November to April 1. Opal cutting class is a one and 1/2 day class that is $15.00.  You can buy an opal rough for $3.00. Faceting is also $15.00, is 1 1/2 days, and they supply the rough. The rest of the classes are only $4.00 a session for either a class or use of the equipment. They have approximately 30 classes each week.

The Quartzsite Roadrunners Gem and Mineral Club is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Thursday mornings they have orientation in the AM and their club meeting at 2PM at the QIA. All are invited. Learn something new and practical this winter in Quartzsite!
